My Writing Process
1) After reading through the different processes of writing I compared my style to the "Heavy Planners" process. Before college I was a "procrastinator" with my writing and always did it at the last minute with very little revising. After my first year at Arizona I transitioned to the "heavy planners" style as I have majority of my points and ideas planned out along with the order that I'm going to write them in.
2) My writing process involves the "heavy planners" and the procrastination techniques. Even though the two seem contradicting, I tend to plan out my work piece by piece with every little detail, and then I write the whole thing at once near the end.
3) I believe that my techniques are successful but also could improve. I like to write my papers at once rather than in portions, but that makes it difficult for change in my paper when the whole thing is already written. My main weakness is saving time for revision and looking over my papers more than twice. My strength in my approach is that I am able to get all of my ideas in my paper in one sitting without losing focus and being able to connect my ideas in a well planned draft before my paper is written. After I plan my paper I am able to sit down and just write the whole thing while following my plan very easily.
4) I think it would be beneficial to incorporate another approach with mine, but I wouldn't change my approach to an entirely different style. For example my weakness is revision, therefore it would be beneficial for me to follow some of the "Heavy Revisers" strategies and use them in my writing. If I did that instead of using a whole different approach, I would be able to still be a "heavy planner" and write my paper in one sitting but only as a first draft. Then I would save time to change, cut out, and add new ideas making it a better paper/writing.
